I usually do after the last post and under the navbar --

I use both and have rotating ads of google, and some cj advertising banners.

After the last post and under the navbar. I detest ads after the first post.
#1 they break up the flow of the thread
#2 they are very in-your-face. You'll see people run, not walk, the other way.

LOL Peggy. I'm still moving my ads around. My problem is having one in the footer and the last post one, they are really close. Drives me crazy. Something I'm going to play with later.

Still trying to figure out where to stick this code to make it show up where I want it. Using Vb Ad Management.

If you already have one in the footer, then you don't need another after last post - so put it under the navbar in the showthread template. That way you still have them in the thread twice.

Right now I have it in the upper right hand corner, not my most favorite place lol. I need to sit and figure out this thing he has on the add on about making more places to put them so I can put one under the nav bar etc. Looking at it next. Right now trying to set up the promotion usergroup for advertising before I get all these lovely people who join just to advertise their sales. Which is my number 1 competition for one of my other sites, sigh no rest for the wicked I know.

Back on topic, I'm working on it lol.

Yes, both. ;)

I show a big second post ad to guests with a message about making it go away if you register. Registered members see a 468x60 small ad. I use the after last post as my linkbar with 5 links in it.

I also do both. Personally, if you want a better CTR and only wanted to do one, I would think after the first post will get you a better CTR, but may turn a few extra visitors away from your site.
