sapper 07-07-2007, 04:03 PM it kind of ticks me off that auctionads goes down so much, But what has me burning up today is that they fixed shoemoney first. If you haven't noticed they are on the same hosing/server or something. because when 1 goes down so does the other. So shoemoney was up in 1 hour, but auction ads has been down for 4 hours. I hope they fix it soon or I might have to fire up my cj account.
Paul M 07-08-2007, 11:43 AM They seem to be up, but slow.
I ended up disabling them for members the other day as it was slowing all my page loads down. They need to sort out their service and stop taking on more accounts until they do, otherwise everyone is going to get fed up and desert them.
Joeychgo 07-08-2007, 11:51 AM As long as Im making the money I am - no way will I be leaving AuctionAds.
Paul M 07-08-2007, 11:58 AM You're not going to make any money if the servers don't work, nor will your pages load very well, which annoys members.
Peggy 07-08-2007, 12:45 PM I'm about to turn them off til they get things sorted. It's getting pretty annoying.
julia44 07-08-2007, 05:35 PM Ya'll are killing me lol. I just get it setup because of all the great comments and now everyone is having problems ugh.
kenfuzed 07-08-2007, 10:43 PM Ya'll are killing me lol. I just get it setup because of all the great comments and now everyone is having problems ugh. It's been hit and miss with them for a while now. I was experiencing problems for over a week and then suddenly things seemed fine. This past week I've been noticing very slow page loads which is driving some of my veteran members crazy, especially those with slow connections. I'm thinking of experimenting with loading the ads in an iframe to see if that helps the pages load any easier. I'm not ready to give up on them just yet. I like having the variety of new ads delivered to my sites which really fit well with my content.
Peggy 07-08-2007, 10:52 PM eh, they'll get it worked out soon (hopefully). I'm thinking it grew a helluva lot faster than they expected it to, and they're having trouble keeping up.
Mike54 07-09-2007, 04:04 AM Well, at least I wasn't getting ads for purses or perfume last evening. Nope, the boat-related ads were beating the purses to the punch.
What I find interesting is that I've been with them for almost one month. Yesterday, for the very first time, I was seeing ads associated with one of my keywords. For nearly an hour, all the ads were centered on that keyword alone.
And then we started showing life vest ads. :throw:
sapper 07-09-2007, 04:25 AM I guess there is a give and take with everything, but I think it is foolish of them to not even acknowledge a 6 hour down time. and on a Saturday of all days when most auctions are ending. I figure that little outage cost me about 50.00 if not more and they don't even mention it. Reminds me of some past companies who have disappeared completely. I do believe that they should stop taking new accounts until they can handle what they have.
Peggy 07-09-2007, 05:53 AM I think you're probably right about that sapper.
julia44 07-09-2007, 07:05 AM Well now I'm glad I wasn't getting life vests or ads and that my site pertains to women. Cause the ads are not coming down.
kenfuzed 07-09-2007, 11:14 PM Life vests would have been better than purses and perfume. My sites cater to bikers, so needless to say I didn't get any hits during that time. Lately I have been seeing only ads targeted toward my keywords. :yayy:
One month and 80,000 impressions but I've barely cracked 20 bucks. Oh well, on the bright side it didn't cost me anything to set up so its really 20 I didn't have before. Good thing for me that coffee is cheap! :cup:
Joeychgo 07-10-2007, 01:13 AM Ken, toy with your keywords. I see motorcycles on your ads, use the max price command so you dont get the bikes. (not many bikes sell vs parts) -- Use keywords for different forums. Thinks like kawasaki chrome, motorcycle battery and ninja mirror. Things they are likely to need to buy. Play with keywords until you get clicks and sales up.
Also, try 2 things -- Move your left sidebar to the right, and swap auctionads and adsense for position. Try it like that a month.
sapper 07-11-2007, 04:27 AM It's 7:26 est right now and guess what it's down again.
Mike54 07-11-2007, 05:26 AM You mean I am not being served any boat-related ads?
Sheesh, a Scottish site with keywords like kilt, sporran, bagpipes, etc. And I am getting ads that are keyed on the word boat. Early this morning, I had two boat decal ads and an ad for a gravy boat.
When my members start asking why all the nautical ads, then I have to figure it's not just me being overly-critical.
sapper 07-11-2007, 06:39 AM update its 9:39 and still down
Cyclops 07-11-2007, 06:42 AM aa has been down all day
Not only all day but for most of the time since this thread was started ...
My stats dropped right off on Sunday, I received one click when normally for the impressions I received I get around 30.
Now it's late Tuesday PM here and their site is still down, it has been up occasionally since Sunday but nothing has been reported.
A big % of auctions end on Sunday night and thats when I find I get the majority of commissions but this time .... zilch. I'm just hoping the stats actually get recorded and are updated when they finally get their sh1t together.
I'm in this at the deep end now, last week I bought three high traffic Forums for the express purpose of placing Auction Ads on them. Didn't even care what the Forums were about LOL so long as they have high traffic and are very active.
It will probably turn out fine but it doesn't exactly do much for confidence when they keep having outages like this.
Just to make matters worse Shoemoney gets irritated when facing hard questions and instead of answering rationally resorts to sarcasm in order to avoid answering them.
Peggy 07-11-2007, 06:46 AM ugh - not good.
sapper 07-11-2007, 07:38 AM well its now 10:35 est and they have been down now for at least 3 hours. This is getting stupid. you know one of those jokers reads this forum and none of them will speak up. Unless things change fast. I am dropping this program.
Joeychgo 07-11-2007, 08:03 AM THis was scheduled and they announced it ahead of time, although I dont think they anticipated it taking this long.
kenfuzed 07-11-2007, 08:17 AM Ken, toy with your keywords. I see motorcycles on your ads, use the max price command so you dont get the bikes. (not many bikes sell vs parts) -- Use keywords for different forums. Thinks like kawasaki chrome, motorcycle battery and ninja mirror. Things they are likely to need to buy. Try it like that a month. Thanks Joey, I've actually been trying a few different things on various parts of my site (home, showthread, etc). I like to make changes slowly so I can gauge their effect. Over 90% of my visitors are Harley riders so I try to keep "harley" in my mix of keywords. The good thing is that there is no shortage of Harley parts on ebay and I've seen a good mix of parts showing up in the ads. I tried adding the "category" code to the keywords as described by AA but it kept blowing out by returning incorrect results. Maybe it doesn't work when used for categories that reside under ebay-motors. I also tried the price min/max code before which had the same negative result. Completely agree that nobody is going to be buying a whole motorcycle, however wouldn't a cookie be written for anyone clicking just to take a look? Then if that same person bought something else on ebay I'd get the credit. At least that is how it worked for my ebay affiliate links used through commission junction.
I'll give the min/max a try again once AA is back up and running.
Thanks!
sapper 07-11-2007, 08:52 AM welp its 11:51 and they are back up. they did not record clicks while down
