Security Questionsjulia44 07-09-2007, 07:05 PM I've never been good at this. What should my ftp files be set to? Especially images? Like I said lol never been good at what they are all supposed to be set to. popowich 07-09-2007, 09:30 PM This is going to depend on how your web hosting is set up. You might be OK 700/600 for most dirs/files, maybe you need to be 755/644. There are some instructions that tell you to 777 something, but really all you need to be doing is making that area writable by the web server. So I guess the answer is, it depends. -Raymond julia44 07-09-2007, 09:49 PM On my other site which is a zen cart I on the same server/host I primarily use 755/644. Thanks, I'll look into this. Dave A 07-09-2007, 11:49 PM You should only have to CHMOD files or folders that are going to be written by the software from time to time. For these files and folders, the options seems to be 777 (recommended by vB) which seems to apply in most instances, or 755 if in a cgi hosting environment where they get cranky about 777 permissions (such as Siteground). julia44 07-09-2007, 11:55 PM zen-cart is cranky sometimes lol I know that's not my host. But my host and I talk about it occasionally. We set things to 755 and zen cart says error error lol. | |
