Occult Corpus is a forum for occult and esoteric discussion with forums for discussing topics within those themes. It is broken down into three main magickal categories with a few additions.
The first category is Magickal Paths (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9) with boards for the less orthodox topics of Chaos Magic (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23) and Eclectic Spirituality (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=44) as well as the more ritual based Ceremonial Magic (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=25) and Eastern Paths (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=26). It also includes areas to discuss Witchcraft (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=22), Monotheism (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=28), and even the darker side of Satanism (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24).
The second main category is for Magickal Persuasions (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=10) which is for the discussion of eclectic accessories such as Divination (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=35), Spirit Guides (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=30), Personal Energy (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=37), as well as Spells and Rituals (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=51). We have also thrown in a few more mundane themes which many occults find an interest in including Occult News (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=57), Paranormal (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=41) and Cryptozoology (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=43) to name a few.
The last main category is for the more Social Aspects (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=13) of the occult which has a place to discuss and show off one’s Art (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=17). A place for discussing occult living (Homestead (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48)) and another board to get diversions from the occult life in Fun and Games (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=54).
We have a main category for site discussion such as Announcements (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19), and Site Feedback (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8). This is also the place to find our Contests (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=40) board where you can win prizes to accent your occult life. We currently have a referral contest running, and another to show off your Summer Altar.
Lastly, we have just opened up an Occult Classifieds (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=64) section where occultists can buy, sell, or trade their occult wares. As this board has just opened there is not that much to see, but I personally have a positive outlook on how it will turn out. Eventually we plan on implementing AuctionAds to it as well as an iTrader system akin to the pointsystem here at vBulletin-FAQ.
Our main index is utilizing the power of vBulletin Advanced (vBa) which is a portal to out unique WebLinks system (a place for members to show off their own sites though a reciprocal linking program) and the place to find a link to our Google Coop search engine which rummages through our main site as well as user suggested web pages.
We also have Google Maps installed which nicely accents our Meetups (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=16) forum by allowing members to find fellow magickians in their area.
There are a few other mods installed, but mostly behind the scenes things such as a proxy detector, Zoints Thread Notes, and others.
Occult Copus was created September 15th 2006 by myself and 10 founding members that fronted the monies needed to get hosting and the vB license. These members are, for the better part, the ruling council of the site each with voting power in the decision making process. They are given all of the perks of Moderators but without the moderating powers. We all came from another occult forum that was repeatedly getting hacked and that had an administrator that did not bother to keep current backups. Being fed up with such practices we took it upon ourselves to create a bigger and better place (with daily backups ;) ).
For a small donation to the site members can achieve “gold” status which allows bigger avatars, larger inboxes, and a fancy colored name. Gold members also get access to a special discussion board with more relaxed rules and better prizes from contests.
The members in general are simply fantastic and help to self-moderate the boards though the use of the Report Button rather then starting flamewars though do enjoy a good debate. We are glad to have among our ranks knowledgeable individuals that can hold their own in discussions about Technomancy, Indigenous faiths, Ceremonial and ritual magick, Divination, Dream interpretation, and the Horoscope. Without the members of Occult Corpus there would be no forum so it is to them that I do my best to cater too and I encourage my mod team to do likewise. We do not lord over them, but rather work with them to resolve issues rather then just throw infractions at any problems that may happen to arise.
I originally was not going to enter this contest because I did not really want to plug my site in such a fashion, but thinking deeper on the matter I decided that on the off chance of winning any one of the offered prizes could and would make Occult Corpus a better site for my members. As it is for them that I plan on keeping it open for years to come. We have almost a zero budget (we are member driven, so no advertising) and will just barely break even for hosting costs this September so there is really no room for extra perks, especially perks that cost. So winning this contest would give the site that added edge and push us in even brighter directions.
Thank you for your consideration…
