Starting a link directory

Hello,

I'm considering starting a link directory with the GARS link module.

If I start a directory, am I best off only allowing poker sites, poker and vbulletin forums, or anything?

I allow any sites in mine - vB forums, website, blogs, etc.
Are you going to require reciprocal links?

My gut says no, don't be a jerk.

Spammers will just remove the link a week later and I don't want to waste cycles checking for them.

I imagine I'd get to approve the good sites and deny the banner farms anyways.

Recips are very easy for Google to find. They know everything -- Hurry wrap tin foil around your servers. :D If anything I'd do a 3 way. You link to me, I link to another one of your sites.

Seriously though, I've been thinking of starting a link directory for my DJ board. I already have one link directory (http://www.linkatme.net) (free to submit, BTW ;) ). Anywho I'll probably be purchasing GARS down the line.

I'm going to start out as a free directory then move to a nominal fee for listings.

I purchased GARS tonight, from Chris. Mostly for the download feature. I like how we have it set up here, where you must click the Install link before you can download the skin. The one I use doesn't work that way, and no one clicks the install link :rolleyes:

I use his GAB as well - he puts out some real quality stuff.
