I think this may have been more of a public statement not a technical question.

Such things have never gone well on my forums.

Public riots, people quit the site, everyone gets stupid.

I'm doing this at the same time as creating our "Fourm Elders" private forum for 1000+ posters.

The mods who don't do modding should understand, and they will still have a cool kids clubhouse to hang out in.

Thi Issue is one of many thiongs I hate about Vbulletin I have nothing else to compair it to but theres a slew of Retarded things that i complain about that people ignore .

This one would be -

Individual Permissons ,

Like the screen where you can add Admin permissions to Moderaters on a specific basis ,

That Dont work BTW cause its Impossibl;e to give a Super Mod a save button on modCP/User profiles Even if you check Yes to all admin permissions on a Super Mod , Amazing how bad that sucks !

The Additional User Groups thing is getting Old , Thats like the "Fix" For alot of issues with VBulletin ,

I had to let go 2 mods one was a Paid Subscriber and the other was a regular member So insted of just going in and disallowing them to edit/delete all the posts I HAD to just disallow the user groups and piss off alot of members ,

Yes I could of started 2 new groups But Im not going to do that thats not a "Fix"

I Already have 2 groups with 1 person in each ... LAME

When you demod someone, just move them back to registered users group as their primary user group. All their mod permissions are gone, they can only do what regular users can do.

For instance: I used to be a mod here and could edit anyones post.. I resigned and Joey put me back to regular member. I can now only edit my posts, and do only what registered users can do.

If a mod was a paid subscriber -- Put them into that usergroup and be done with it.

Perhaps, I miss understood the question.. But you demod someone by putting them in a regular user group, simple as that.

If you're looking to make ex-mods have different permissions from a regular user, than of course you need to created a usergroup with the amended permissions.

Regular members can Edit there own posts , Same as paid subscibers ,

If a Mod left on bad terms he could go there and mess up all his posts and render alot of threads useless Even as a Regular member

I would have to create a Regular members No Edit and a Paid Subcribers no edit groups and only have a person in each Thats alot of Baggage to complete a task that could easly be done by SIMPLY disallowing certian abbilities of specific users in the profile on the Admin/Mod CP side of life

maybe so, but the fact is, you can't do what you want to do with specific users. So that's the next best thing ;)

You can always set the board wide edit time limit to 30 minutes or so.. You cannot control how long someone can edit their posts via usergroup settings, only if they can or cannot edit posts.

By setting a time limit no one can go back a day, month or year later and mess up their old posts except staff.

This is a separate global configuration from the permissions you are talking about. I have my forums set so registered members can not edit their own posts once they are 30 days old. This gives everyone the chance to correct mistakes, and take something down if they had an argument and made up later, but also makes sure than an angry member can not change history and delete all of their threads/posts.

AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> Message Posting and Editing Options -> Time Limit on Editing of Posts -> 129600
