Im noticing something else besides the PR update...

- Some pages PR has changed, despite the pages not being indexed.

As an example....
Making Money with your vBulletin Forum: Selling Text Links (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/selling-text-links-vbulletin.html)
This was a PR 6, now its a PR5, but its not indexed. Further, it has 155 backlinks.

Same deal here: Choosing a Domain Name for your Forum (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/domain-name.htm) - Also was a 6, now a 5. Also has backlinks, but is not cached.

Our forumhome page vBulletin Forum (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/) had no PR, but now has a 6 - yet, is also not cached, and once again, has backlinks.

Something else I have noticed.... Cache dates dont seem right to me. http://www.w3.org/ is a PR 10 - but look at its cache date... 6 days ago. Unusually long for a PR10.

I am not sure what all this means yet, but clearly something is very strange.

It's because Google is a total wreck and no one at Google seems to care about the quality of their Search Engine anymore. Even my MOM is noticing how awful the serps are in Google. It is rather pathetic. Google is too considered with their new fancy products. Get back to basics Google.

Whats most interesting in your comment is that your Mom is noticing. We are all biased to one point or another... Your Mom (I assume) is just a regular person. If she is noticing, then its a firm indication that we are seeing things accurately.

Yes, Google has problems. I agree, no question there. Where I am interested is in figuring out what might work to resolve things so I can overcome Google's issues.

I would bet that if all those complaining had the balls to remove adsense and show google that the revenue won't flow if we don't play, that things would change.

I'm half way there and thought of this last night. As long as we show their ads they can profit and not care. If the revenue stops flowing, they have to react.

But I bet no one will part with their adsense ads and google will continue to make money off our backs while we think we're lucky to get the income. That mentality has to change.

I think I'll go first. All my eggs are not in one basket, I have other means of survival.

I removed all AdSense over a year ago. (I used to run a popular poetry site... prior to the www.tgreer.com/printforum/ site.) I also use FireFox with the "Adblock" extension, so I completely block all googlesyndication scripts for every site... so I don't see ANYONE's AdSense ads.

I loved Google when they were a Search company. Things took a dramatic turn as soon as they introduced AdWords. Now, I dramatically don't care what my PR is... I only care about user feedback, which is positive.

Note: like Joey said elsewhere, though, I have the luxury of not needing to make a living online. It's more than a hobby, less than a business.
