Forum Permissions

I was reading a gripe recently about forum permissions. I didn't comment at the time, maybe I did and forgot, but here is my related question. You have a forum for only people with 1000+ groups. You have a forum for premium members. Ib both cases you need the group to be the primary group for the forum to dispaly. There are premium members who shoudl not see the 1000+ "Sr. members" group, ie: you can't buy your way into it. Very different kinds of discussions going on between them. What is one to do? It would be nice if you could say "no for everyone, but if they happen to be in group X primary/secondary whatever then let them in". Am I missing something?
