On my forum I have named it Bob RSS (View Profile (http://www.occultcorpus.com/forum/member.php?u=196)) and have given him a cute little avatar of Bob Ross painting my sites logo and the usertitle "The Joy of Syndication"
His occupation of course is RSS bot, and his location is my site URL ;)
I have recently started a site blog for announcements and other things of importance, and will be feeding those into my site announcements through my name (I'm admin)...but Bob does the rest.
So... how do you do the RSS bot thing?

i turned him off shortly after launch.......he may see some more action soon....maybe

I have Bob pulling "occult news" from several sources...but have most of those sources set to "moderation" then I view the QUEUE via New Posts. I love that option, as without it, Bob would be turned off as well.
News Man is a good name though ;)

he only reports the local news, from the delaware news papers site :)
all the story are ok to post. it started getting out of hand though. now i hav a moderator that grabs and posts good stories.

hmmmm I thought about giving mine a name on my designs site. The only one I have pulls in announcements from vb.com, but then my members inevitable think that the announcement is for TBD - same thing happens here at FAQ as well.
So I do think I'm going to create a username just for the rss.
I'm sure I'll do the same on my new forum as well.

I give my bots a descriptive name.
I name them RSS_{name of feed} for example RSS_PokerGazette a poker news feed.
I have a separate account used for each feed and about 12 total feeds into my news forum.

Yeah he pumps my post count so what? I still have to edit some of the stuff he puts on there.
