Useful for library but not engineer's reference This is not James Oldshue's "Fluid Mixing Technology." That book should be on every engineer's shelf. (It is necessarily broad but successfully escapes from other technical books published by McGraw-Hill: it is not a collection of magazine articles.) What the Handbook of Industrial Mixing offers is a collection of graduate level material forum discussions on the subject. If you need in-depth knowledge of different forms of mixing this would be a good place to start. If you are trying to solve a field problem directly, talk to the vendors --- this handbook won't help.
For example, I used this reference to estimate pressure losses in static mixers handling highly viscous liquids. The estimates calculated were higher than later vendor information. I had some difficulty digging out the equations and reading all the caveats.
