Great reference This book is a great read and a great reference. It has helped me to resolve issues and quickly overcome obstacles with SSAS. I always recommend it to all of our new SSAS developers.
good, but not great I have 3 SSAS 2005 books in my office, and they are all good but not great. None of them cover everything I need, nor tips on how to handle problems SSAS isn't designed to solve (work-arounds).
Not enough help with MDX in this book, considering writing MDX is half the battle of learning to get the most out of SSAS.
Easy understanding The language and the application of the analysis world is so clear, this kind of books encourage us to continue learning day by day.
Try the Tutorials After reading this book and working thru SQL Server 2005 Books Online (BOL) tutorials I'd recommend only doing the later. While BOL does not offer a lot of deep insights, neither does Lachev.
Not a bad resource This is a fairly good book for someone needing to implement a BI solution. It covers all of the bases but I was not impressed with the way the information was presented. My main criticism with this book is that reading it was like reading a product label. Full of information, but kind of dull.
