MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER NEED I was on the hunt for a book or manual that could give insight into the interesting world of Telecom. What a trunk line is, how many lines it has, how it differs why you would use it instead of...

br /Even people who have been in the world of telecom for many years realize that a lot has changed. I want something that would help them in their transition to make things easier. Everyone kept saying get the Newton's Telecom Dictionary; so I did, and it's great. It has more information than I think anyone will ever need, but if you don't know what you are looking for it's not very helpful.
A Must for Anyone in Telecommunications This was one of the first books colleagues recommended when I started working for a telecom company. It's definitely not light reading but an excellent reference for anything related to the telecom industry.
As Expected, Excellent! Exactly what I expected, has all more of the info you need if your in the Telco business, or if you need to put a communication package together for your company or business. I keep it on my desk and reference it often, it has endless information, and I have not been able to NOT locate the info I am looking for, It's comprehensive total package will give you all the info you will ever need.
Mishmash of Pseudo Definitions The author seems to ignore that a definition is a statement conveying the fundamental character of the object under scrutiny and not an arbitrary enumeration of particular features. Consequently, a large part of the so called "definitions" provide only vague descriptions of some arbitrary and irrelevant details, completely evading the meaning of the notion being defined, confusing if not completely misleading the reader.
br /
br /Most bewildering though, Mr. Newton took the liberty to insert all sort of anecdotal facts from his personal life without any relevance to the subject at hand, totally inappropriate in a technical book and almost obscene in the context of dictionary which, by "definition" should be characterized by concision and accuracy.
br /
br /Final caveat: this work contains grossly incorrect statements which are perhaps more excusable than its deviations from the elementary norms of the common sense.
br /
br /Perhaps the author intended to write a romanticized biography of his technical experience and accidentally turned it into a technical book. If this was really meant to be a dictionary however, it is almost an offense to the intelligence and sound judgment of the casual reader.
Great resource! How can anyone in the telecom idustry do without this tried and true reference book? I bought it for my team and made 6 people really happy! Go Harry!
