vBulletin Definitely a book anyone considering the franchise route to small business should read!
br /It liked this book. It was logical, well-written and complete. It was comprised of seven sections and 19 chapters: br / br /§1. Follow your dream to franchise ownership (1-3) br /§2. Are you a franchise person? (4-6) br /§3. Find the right franchise for you (7-9) br /§4. How much will it cost? (10, 11) br /§5. The UFOC and Franchise Agreement (12, 13) br /§6. Due Diligence (14, 15) br /§7. Finance your franchise (16-19) br /§A. Resources br / br /1. What a good franchise can do for you br /2. The wide, wide world of franchises br /3. The franchise players br /4. Who's the boss? br /5. What kind of franchise person are you? br /6. It takes a village br /7. Seventeen steps to franchise ownership br /8. Assess franchise opportunities br /9. Where to search for franchise opportunities br /10. Cost overview br /11. How much will you make? br /12. The Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) br /13. The Franchise Agreement br /14. Interview other franchisees br /15. Interview the franchisor br /16. Start-up funding br /17. Explore your financing options br /18. Write the franchise Business Plan br /19. Welcome to the world of franchise ownership br / br /This book claims to provide an insider's guide to success with franchises. In my humble opinion, it delivers. By reading it you will learn how to succeed in the altenative small business world of franchising. This book will help the reader navigate the process of buying a franchise. The specifics of the purchasing process are covered in Chapter 7. br / br /This book does a good job covering both the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) and the typical Franchise Agreement. These documents are central to any franchise. Although this book should not be used as a substitute for legal counsel, it does a nice job of covering these two legal documents so you can be an educated consumer before you seek legal assistance from an attorney who specializes in franchise matters. br / br /I would have liked the book better if it had gotten a little more detailed. The book actually is not all that long. Its page count and weight are somewhat normal. But that is due to formatting and type size. I feel as though there could have been a little more meat on the bones of this book. And if it had had more sidebar stories and more in depth coverage of the topics covered, then I would bump this tome up to a 5 star rating. But don't skip it just because I gave it something lower. It's a good book. 4 stars!
