vBulletin Barely 2-Stars - A slow Moving Accounting software!
Preface - From a Consumer standpoint, there just isn't any 5-Star Pro Accounting software br /for Personal or Small Business. If there are any Recommendations, post them here. br / br /This MS Office Accounting Pro 2007, was purchased a year ago and since then, there has been very little use for it, for the following reason's: br / br /* From the pure Technical perspective - Often like many Microsoft Programs that get br / "embedded" into Your Windows OS (XP Pro for me), upon opening these programs, br / they demand take much of your System's resources; which means that I can't run other br / programs, even if I'm maxed out on my RAM. The end result is that this produced a series br / of system 'crashes', freezes and UEB (unexplained behavior), despite MS updates. br / This program is massive and takes up close to 500 MB, like many other Office programs, br / and this doesn't take into account, the 'accounting files' that you are going to be creating! br / br /* From an accounting User experience - Despite it's familiar Office interface, with a startup br / wizard and the usual Import Data options; it's Not intuitive, nor Easy to Navigate. br / br / - Frustrating just opening the program, as it makes you go thru a New Account sequence, br / because it doesn't remember nor recognize the 'previous accounts', for Pete's sake! br / - I found it Cumbersome to use, Slow in rendering itself, with a disenfranchised mapping. br / br / Recommend - Intuit Quick Books, although not a 5-Star performer, is a lot more Nimble br / Intuitive to use. br / br /* MS promotes this accounting software to seamlessly integrate with other Microsoft Office br / programs for greater efficiency and accuracy; well. this is NOt the case in Reality, as all I br / need is yet another Memory HOG, linking to this one. br / br /* Also promoted is the perceived Idea the Accountant Transfer Export Wizard option lets you br / easily share your company's financial information with your accountant or your bank. br / All I can say here is just try it ... and See what happens. br / - My accountant recommended I drop this 'paper weight' into File 13, with all the Heave-Hoo br / I could muster. They recommended Quick Books instead. br / br /* Experience tell us that No One Company, no matter how Monopolizing it is, can become the br / Sole Creator/Developer/Proprietor for All PC Hardware Software, or cars, trucks, watches, br / widgets, clothes , TV's, nor Nintendo. This is a very Good case in point! br / br /* MS/Office Support - Now tell us again ... which planet are you from? br / br / br /

vBulletin No exceptional Microsoft suite integration yet
I am a solo legal practioner (2 person networked office) who is looking for an excellent practice management and accounting/billing suite. My experience has been that most all such suites are based on Microsoft Outlook for electronic mail. The suites that I have used (QuickBooks Pro/Timeslips/Outlook, Amicus Attorney/PCLaw, QuickBooks Pro/Outlook) have had synchronization problems with Outlook or each other, or did not seemlessly integrate with its partner product as advertised. I hoped that using all Microsoft applications would eliminate the synchronization problems by elminating or minimizing the number of different databases. I have been disappointed in the integration of the Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 and Microsoft Accounting Professional 2007 suites. br / br /For over three months, I have been using Microsoft Accounting Professional 2007 with Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 so that there would be synchronization between Outlook (with Business Contact Manager(BCM)) and Microsoft Accounting Professional. The synchronization between the two databases (Outlook BCM and Accounting)is almost instantaneous (a truly remarkable achievement) the synchronization only occurs at the business address or telephone level. It does not occur at the home address or telephone level if the account is an individual and not a business, even if the home address is listed as the mailing address. There is seemles integration between items purchased in accounting and appearing for billing on invoices when the allocation is made at the time of the purchase which is good. br / br /MS Accounting does not have a timer for acumulating the time for services I perform. The time management specialists that I have consulted have convinced me that a timer is critical for immediate capture of time spent on items for billing. QuickBooks, Timeslips, Amicus Attorney and PCLaw all have integrated timers. MS Accounting is inflexible. Once you have saved an item, you need to void the item and redo it in its entirety even to just change a mispelling on a memorandum note. I was familiar with QuickBooks which was much more user friendly and accepted changes without all of the retyping that Accounting requires. I would have continued with QuickBooks except that it produced a very unprofessional looking invoice. The Quickbooks invoice is fine for items with limited services. It is not acceptable for a legal services bill where descriptions of service performed for each hour billed is required. Accounting does allow me to export its invoice to MS Word and to prepare it for my clients in a professional looking manner. That is the only reason that I am still using the Microsoft Office/Accounting solution at this time. br / br /The Outlook Business Contact Manager database that the Accounting uses is very unstable and when I make a number of changes to it in a day, I will have one to four crashes and restarts each day. This is unacceptable to me and loses information that is important to Accounting. br / br /I archived my QuickBooks data before importing it into MS Accounting as the program recommends. With the archive, I lost all of the detail of my quickBooks transactions, something I would have preferred not to do. br / br /Microsoft was to have send me an upgrade to Accounting 2008 and 3 months later still has the upgrade for me on backorder though the product is available at this moment at any big box technology store. Other than the ability to export an invoice into Microsoft Word to prepare a professional looking invoice, I was happier with the QuickBooks product.

vBulletin Accounting software for small business
+ easy to start using this product, I like user interface br /+ added custom fields functionality br /- to create reports with custom fields you have to have Word 2003 and up br /- in payment method no option to use "wire transfer" or "debit card" (you have to write a check or use cash instead) br /- import of bank files is pointless, you have to type in everything anyways during data matching process br /- to import transactions or custom fields you have to purchase add-on br / br /In general this product is usable, but it requires some improvement. br /

vBulletin interest makes it worth it
In my opinion the ability to chage interest to outstnding invoices and issues monthly statements makes the price worth it. So far I have had no bad issues with this application (knock on wood!).

vBulletin A great product
I was very happy with this upgrade and the added features. A very worthwhile upgrade.
