Hello,

I want to change the background color on a fixed width style (http://www.outletgunclub.com/forums/).

Where do I change the style so the background is brown and not white?

If you can recommend a matching color code that would be great! Thanks! :D

Hi everybody, I know I don't frequent here often, but I wondered if I could seek your CSS advice.

So here's the story
I've made this website for my lab at university. Here it is. It's great, I'm chuffed, because I've never worked with php or a separate css sheet before. I'm got some original ideas on there (like what's coming up) which the original author has since nabbed for his own lab website! Swine...
Anyway..
The CSS is only for IE 7 at the moment (I read loads of websites that say 'set it up for Firefox first' but that was out of my hands). The aformentioned original author said it looked shocking, rubbish, terrible and very poor in IE6/Firefox. Gee thanks. It's his fault it's not set up for Firefox...

One of the main things that's wrong with it is the list on the main menu. If you use IE 7, click on Yorkshire Dales Hunter-Gatherer Project and appears four more links. A list within a list. Now with IE7 the bullet points appear as triangles and change when clicked, but in Firefox (and IE6) they appear as squares.

What I have to do is change the css from the version for IE7 (version 1, right?) to the version for Firefox. I just don't know how to go about it- what's different between the two? I know they are subtle, but I'm having trouble 'translating' my specific problem

Here's where I ask for your help, anyone better at HTML and CSS (and php) than I am.

When the list-link is not clicked:

.navigation li.off {

padding-left: 20px;
background-image: url('sq0.gif');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: 0 0.4em;
}

When is is clicked:

.navigation li.on {

padding-left: 20px;
background-image: url('sq1.gif');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: 0 0.4em;
}

When the 2nd list is not clicked:

.navigation li ul li.off {

padding-left: 20px;
background-image: url('triangle1.gif');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: 0 0.4em;
}

And then when it is clicked:

.navigation li ul li.on {

padding-left: 20px;
background-image: url('triangle2.gif');
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-position: 0 0.4em;
}

Where li ul li is the list within a list, hence its triangle1/2.gif rather than sq1/2 if that makes sence.

I hope I've given you enough to go on.
Getting the CSS right for IE 6 would be an added bonus as well!

Thanks in advance folks. Hopefully I'll find someone who enjoy's this sort of trivial coding stuff :(

This forum is going to be my holy grail when it comes to questions I need answers to. I hope I am able to access it on my moto-Q smart phone and read the helpful threads and funny comments from the staff when I’m away from my computer.

I like the look of this forum and the ease navigating the pages without suffocating through miles, and miles of technical jargon that I wouldn’t be able to understand unless I completed a college course on programming code 101.

My first stop will be locating the thread that talks in plain terms about how to change the color of your forum and the logo on the top banner. Hope to see everyone around the forum
