change forum home adress?

Hi Just reinstalled a brand new forum but when i enter the domain name its taking me to a list of folders on my server, when i add /forums to the end of the domain i have the forum, so the question is what is the piece if code i use to sort this im sure i have done it before maybe using a .htacess, but cant remember

any help appreciated?

Put a file index.php in the root directory, and 30* redirect from that page to the forum home page.
