Spam is a PITA -- No question.
Have you done everything here?

Hello,
I've been getting plastered with spam bots lately. I have the No Spam hack which sends their posts to moderation when their posts contains links, and I have all of those CAPTCHA options enabled. Is there anything else I can due to cut down on the spam bot registrations and also keep them from sending me e-mail though the contact site links which do have the anti spam stuff active too? Thanks!

Yes, I even contributed to that thread.
The most annoying for me is the spam going to my forums e-mail address though the contact link.
I even double checked the 8 step program from vbulletin.com and still get plastered.
The moderation queue bothers me not so much.

In searching for a solution to another problem I have, I was trying to study up on .htaccess entries. I came across a .htaccess setting that is really designed to stop robots that don't read the robots.txt file from misbehaving.
In reading this, I wondered if it would work on these spam bots, but now I can't find where I read the info in the first place
I'll look harder when I get a decent gap, but maybe someone else has seen this too in the meantime...
